Music Programming
At MTV Australia I was in charge of the music programming department. This consisted of managing the music programmers for the various music video channels we broadcasted and creating original music content to coincide with the music videos.
As my first job in Australia’s entertainment industry this gave me a chance to dive head first into the music scene and learn the culture, discover the artists and build relationships with label and PR reps.
Music Promos
My team was tasked with coming up with creative stunts to attract viewership.
One of our most successful stunts was playing The Veronicas music video for “Untouched” for 24 hours leading up to the premiere of the reality show MTV Australia was producing with the group.
An initiative that I championed while at the company was MTV Upload. This was a platform that highlighted emerging artists from Australia and New Zealand. Giving the artists a chance to submit their music videos for a chance to get them played on our music channels.
One of the most successful music programming efforts was our series Stripped. This was a promo opportunity for artists locally and internationally to perform two songs acoustically. It was a great way for the artists to showcase their singles in a new way. Artists including Mabel, Drax Project, Tove Lo, Conan Gray, Adrian Eagle, Thelma Plum and Boy & Bear participated in the series.
